Last year, Pomgrad transformed three intersections in Lenart into roundabouts. In addition, state roads through Lenart in the total length of 1300 meters were also renovated. The works also included the renovation of the associated communal infrastructure, the arrangement of sidewalks and bicycle trails in the city center, as well as the setting up of public lighting. The value of the works was calculated to be € 2.8 million, while the works were intensively carried out in the period from March to September 2018.
Upon the completion of works, the project director, Darko Šalamun, said the following: “Due to the minimum disruption of traffic flows and access to the establishments in the center of Lenart, the works were carried out in four main stages, which also included temporary barriers or traffic redirections at the time of construction.”
The existing pavement structure on national roads was completely removed, the existing mixed fecal and meteor water sewage was replaced with new pipes and shafts, other existing public utility lines were protected and a new pavement structure with associated traffic equipment was constructed. Bicycle paths and pedestrian corridors in the city center were paved with cobbles from the porphyry of gray and red color in the total area of approximately 3000 m2. New public lighting was also installed, for which candelabra and lamps were used, which owing to their shape blend well into the urban environment of the city market.
Thanks to the aforementioned works, the city center of Lenart has been given a pristine appearance, whilst with the construction of three roundabouts, the flow and traffic safety of motor vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians at the busiest traffic spots in the city has been achieved.
